Grant Requirements
Grant applications for the Fitness Center Grant are available at the beginning of October and due at the beginning of November each year.
Responsibilities of Participating High Schools
Participating high schools must provide the following:
- A clean, empty and secure room that is freshly painted, equipped with air conditioning, has mirrors on at least one wall, and has adequate flooring suitable to be converted into a new fitness center.
- A structured fitness program to conduct annual FitnessGram testing and provide Sound Body Sound Mind with results.
- Supervised after-school access to the facility at least 3 days/week (2 hours/day).
- A log that tracks the number of students accessing the facility, during and after school.
- A designated primary Sound Body Sound Mind representative who will be responsible for implementing the program.
Responsibilities of Participating Middle Schools
Participating middle schools must provide the following:
- A clean, empty and secure room that is freshly painted, equipped with air conditioning and adequate flooring suitable to be converted into a new fitness center. Please note: Mirrors are not required for the middle school program.
- A structured fitness program to conduct annual FitnessGram testing and provide Sound Body Sound Mind with results.
- A log that tracks the number of students accessing the facility, during and after school.
- A designated primary Sound Body Sound Mind representative who will be responsible for implementing the program.
